How did Crime Stoppers begin?

  • In May of 1991, there were thirteen Crime Stoppers programs in North Carolina. Eight met in Morehead City to unite and form our State Association.

  • Those early members were Greensboro, Boone, Winston-Salem, Charlotte, Durham, Statesville, Raleigh, and Morehead City.

    • Mission Statement

      • The North Carolina Crime Stoppers Association Inc. was formed as an umbrella organization for Crime Stoppers programs in our state. The association’s mission is to further the goals of all programs in our state. This is accomplished through annual training seminars which focus on fund-raising, promotion, and operation of their individual programs.

    • Our Purpose:

      • Our purpose is to aide in the cultivation of new programs and support those existing ones. This is accomplished by freely sharing ideas with any Law Enforcement Agency in North Carolina who may seek information to begin a program.
